Apartment Hunting

There are so many struggles we go through in life. For me, the struggle to get sober, to pull myself out of clinical depression, to go back to school, and this New Year, the struggle to quit smoking. My fiance and I are looking to move in together and while he works in the Bay Area during the week, I’ve been searching to rent our new home. I found what I though was a perfect cabin in the words near Empire Mine. It had a walking trail in the backyard, a window seat in the living room and a gas fireplace. It was perfect for us. I got an email from the property management company late last night that they were canceling my application because I stated on my application that I smoked outside, but I was quitting. I told them I could quit by the 11th move-in date, but they were no willing to give me that chance. I am super bummed and feel discouraged that so many people are against smokers even if you smoke outside. The cabin is stand-alone and the other neighbors are several hundred yards away. The smoke would not possibly get to their homes. I want to quit and know I should quit, but this type of treatment because I am a smoker makes me angry. They are missing out on great tenants!!
